Darling's Journey to Paradise
Darling arrived in Manhattan late one January night, a five-month-old black Moyen Poodle fresh from Tennessee, visibly processing the assault of sirens, steam, and strangers. The city that never sleeps met a young dog who very much wanted to. But here's where breeding meets character: within three days, this same nervous pup was navigating New York's winter streets with newfound confidence. The transformation was remarkable—from tentative Southern gentleman to Manhattan sophisticate, as if the city had simply been waiting for him to find his rhythm. By his third month in residence, Darling had begun alerting to medical changes with a precision that surprised even his trainers. That early nervousness had evolved into watchful awareness, Tennessee caution refined into New York intuition. In a city of eight million, Darling has crafted a life of understated elegance. He takes his meals fresh—yes, that was rack of lamb for Easter. He responds to commands in French. He knows which evenings call for DBZ and which for Doctor Who. His boots are essential—he's always preferred them to bare pavement, a sensible Southerner's response to city streets. This is Darling: from anxious arrival to essential companion, proof that confidence isn't born but earned, one city block at a time.
News & Press
Darling Turns One: A Year of Loyalty, Lessons, and Love
From sunrise cuddles to late-night alerts, Darling has spent his first year working faithfully by Paradise's side. He’s grown into a calm, caring, and intuitive service dog—showing us what it means to love, lead, and listen. Here’s to a year of purpose, presence, and poodle pride.
Darling Qualifies for the AKC Canine Good Citizen Test
Not every dog earns it, but Darling made it look easy. At just one year old, Darling has officially qualified for the American Kennel Club’s Canine Good Citizen Test (CGC)—a milestone that recognizes dogs who demonstrate exceptional manners, obedience, and handler trust in public settings. For Darling, it was more than a test. It was confirmation of the work he does daily—navigating crowds calmly, responding to commands with precision, and staying focused even in high-distraction environments. The CGC program is a national gold standard for canine behavior, often used as a stepping stone for therapy and service dog work. Darling's qualification affirms what we've long known: he’s not just a good boy. He’s a professional. We’re incredibly proud of this achievement—and even more excited for what’s ahead. Next stop: advanced service certifications and (maybe) a modeling campaign or two.
